Modeled after the?American black-capped chickadee, it mimics the bird's signature chirping sounds whenever it detects smoke.
As smoke thickens, its chickadee call gets louder until it reaches 85 decibels, which can be compared to the level of sounds you can hear during heavy traffic. The product created by Dutch designer Louise van der Veld previously?won a design award, because the jury thought it was?innovative and had a low barrier of acceptance thanks to its undeniable cuteness.
